Now that spring is here, you can do something to fight the effects of multiple sclerosis. In the U.S. and Canada, fundraising events are taking place right now.

Spring is in the air, so now is a great time to get out and move. Several ways to raise money for multiple sclerosis include the MS Walk, the MS Bike Tour, and the MS Challenge Walk. If you or someone you know is fighting this disease, what a great way to get some fresh air and exercise while also raising money for the cure for MS.

Special programs that stem from these events include Team MS, where people can form a team for the above events, and also have a captain to organize them. Champions against MS pairs a fundraiser with a person living with multiple sclerosis. The two can motivate one another throughout the event.

A unique event that is held throughout Canada is the MS Carnation Campaign: the sale of carnations, the national symbol for MS hope, during Mother's Day weekend (May 11th - 13th.) In Canada this is the longest running fundraiser for the cause, and its dates remind people that a majority of folks with multiple sclerosis are women and hence, mothers.
