Okay, I admit this story is not very newsworthy, or scientific, or even long. But I find it funny, and sometimes a chronic condition can be humorous:
The other night it was below freezing (probably in the teens) and my husband got up in the morning to get ready for work. He woke me up on his way out, alerting me to the fact that the toilet had no water in its tank. We both figured something was wrong with the flush handle. My father came over and tried to work some magic. In the meantime, I had an increasing urge to go to the bathroom (not uncommon with MS.) My dad started to call around for a plumber after he broke something off the back which connected the toilet to the pipe in the wall. I had had nothing to drink or eat all morning, thinking this would be a quick fix. No such luck. I barely made it out of the house in my sweats, coat, and hat. No immediate neighbors were home, so I had to cruise over to Mc Donald's to do my business. Eek----just made it! I think people with MS know what it's like to gamble with waiting to use a bathroom. I can still laugh because it was a close call, but it worked out okay. These MS quirks are annoying, but in hindsight, they are sometimes funny....Thank goodness for Mickey D's!
