My husband and I attended a reception for my cousin's wedding a few years ago. The original nuptials took place near Chicago, but those who couldn't attend were invited to a second ceremony close to my aunt and uncle's house in New Jersey. During the reception I had the chance to meet one of my aunt's friends, a woman with Huntington's Disease. Her major obstacles were with motor skills---- she had a problem with involuntary movements. Despite this, she was attending the reception and enjoying time with friends. Her speech was a bit difficult to understand, but she carried on with conversations.
My mom also knows this woman because a group of my aunt's friends take a yearly jaunt down to Tennessee for an annual story-telling event. I have recently been told that this woman is now very sick and fighting for her life. Perhaps you can keep this person in your thoughts as you go through June, and hope that medical science will find a way to end this devastating disease.
