What pain! Eating ice cream can cause a walloping headache, especially in the face. Many people suffer from this malady, but have you ever wondered why? This problem is actually caused by blood vessel spasms and swelling. The ice cream that you eat is so cold that it causes these spasms. Then the blood flow through these vessels is interrupted, causing blood vessel swelling or dilation behind the area that is spasming. Ice cream headaches can be brutal, but now you know that the pain is not all in your head (or maybe it is....)
