A migraine is a type of headache which can cause nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. Learn more about this particular type of headache.

Migraines differ from other types of headaches because they are thought to be caused by a genetic, neurological disorder. More women than men suffer from this type of headache, and monthly hormonal changes are thought to be a factor. Classic migraine headache symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and/or sound. Some people experience what is called an "aura", or warning, before the migraine begins.
